Unveiling the 2027 Kia Telluride: A Rugged, Luxurious SUV Evolution (2026)

Get ready, SUV enthusiasts! The 2027 Kia Telluride is here, and it's making a statement. This isn't just an update; it's a transformation, promising a more rugged design, a luxurious interior, and some exciting new engine options. Since its debut in 2019, the Telluride has been Kia's flagship ICE SUV, and for the 2027 model year, it's been completely revamped.

What's New?

Positioned above the Sorento SUV, the 2027 Kia Telluride boasts a significantly updated design, improved equipment, and new powertrains. It's a major player in markets like North America, where it's one of Kia's best-selling vehicles. The unveiling took place at the ongoing 2025 Los Angeles Auto Show.

Exterior: Rugged and Refined

The Telluride was already known for its rugged appearance, but the 2027 version takes it to a whole new level. The front fascia is more imposing, featuring a larger grille, vertically stacked LED headlights with vertical LED DRLs, a muscular bonnet, and chunky bumpers with faux skid plates. There are also interesting triangular elements that add a touch of sophistication.

The side profile of the MY27 Kia Telluride is reminiscent of a Range Rover, with its flat glass area and a subtle floating roof effect. Flush door handles, 8-spoke alloy wheels on higher trims, and a thick D-pillar are also notable. The rear of the 2027 Telluride continues the Range Rover inspiration, with clean lines and a vertical taillight signature, along with Telluride lettering.

Size and Space

Dimensionally, the 2027 Kia Telluride is slightly larger, measuring 5.06 meters in length, which is about 0.06 meters longer than before. The wheelbase has also been extended to 2.97 meters, approximately 0.07 meters longer than its predecessor. This increase in size translates to more cargo volume. Behind the third row, you'll find around 630 liters of boot space, 1,310 liters behind the second row, and a massive 2,460 liters behind the first row seats.

Interior: A Step Up in Luxury

Inside, the 2027 Kia Telluride has undergone a major upgrade, with a focus on premium materials and a more luxurious feel. The highlight is the 30-inch Trinity display, which combines a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment display, a 5-inch touchscreen climate control display, and a 12.3-inch instrument cluster. This setup is similar to what's found in the Kia Syros and the upcoming Syros EV.

Kia offers multiple interior themes depending on the trim level. The MY27 Telluride features richer materials, including real wool, real wood, real leather, and metal accents, giving it a true luxury car appeal. The 2026 Telluride started at USD 37,885 (approximately Rs 33.8 lakh), and the new model is expected to be priced even higher.

Under the Hood: New Engines

The 2027 Kia Telluride introduces a duo of 2.5L 4-cylinder engines, replacing the older 3.8L petrol V6. The new 2.5L 4-cylinder turbo petrol engine is rated at 274 bhp, paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox and FWD. There's also a 2.5L hybrid engine, featuring a 1.65 kWh battery pack and an electric motor, with a peak power of 329 bhp.

But here's where it gets controversial... The move from a V6 to a 4-cylinder engine might raise eyebrows among some enthusiasts. Will the new engines deliver the same level of performance and refinement?

And this is the part most people miss... The interior upgrades and increased cargo space really set the 2027 Telluride apart. It's a practical and luxurious SUV.
