While Infinix is not the frontrunner in the industry concerning software upgrades, the company has made an ambitious claim of offering three significant operating system updates and five years of security patches. This effort reflects a dedication to keeping their devices relevant and secure, even if it doesn't set new standards in the market.
Interestingly, XOS shares a striking resemblance to Tecno's HiOS, indicating that both skins derive from a similar family of designs, albeit under different branding. Despite these customizations, the overall user experience remains user-friendly and straightforward, making navigation intuitive for users, even those who might be new to Android.
XOS 16: Features and Usability
One notable feature of the Infinix Note Edge is its always-on display. However, the term 'always-on' might be a bit misleading, as the display only stays illuminated for approximately 15 seconds. On the bright side, this feature supports landscape orientation while charging, allowing users to utilize it effectively as a bedside clock, which can be quite handy.

Out of the box, the software environment appears relatively organized; however, it does come pre-loaded with some apps that many users might consider unnecessary bloatware. These include Aha Games and Palm Store—two alternative app marketplaces—alongside other applications like XClub, Visha Player, XTheme, and the Hola Browser.
The default AI assistant on the Infinix Note Edge is Gemini, which provides a text-based interaction experience. Unfortunately, it lacks the capability to recognize or interact with the content displayed on your screen, which could be seen as a missed opportunity for enhancing user engagement.
Fortunately, users can opt for Infinix's Folax voice assistant instead, which is built upon the DeepSeek R1 model. By pressing and holding the Quick button, you can launch Folax, although the default setting opens the camera. Folax is quite robust, featuring voice wake-up capabilities and verbal responses. It can even engage with the content currently visible on the screen, adding a layer of interactivity that Gemini does not provide. While many of Folax's advanced features rely on internet connectivity, basic commands and phone functionalities remain accessible offline.
Diving into Infinix's AI Tools
Infinix has bundled a comprehensive suite of AI-powered tools with the Note Edge. This includes real-time translation services, writing assistance, transforming sketches into images within the Notes app, generating AI wallpapers, and photo editing options like object removal and image expansion. The organization and presentation of these features have improved significantly, making them more user-friendly and easier to locate.

This chip, which debuted just weeks ago, represents a fresh offering rather than a mere rebranding of previous models. It succeeds the Dimensity 7050 and is built on an advanced 6nm architecture, supporting the ARMv8.2-A instruction set. The octa-core CPU configuration includes four Arm Cortex-A78 cores clocked up to 2.4GHz and four Cortex-A55 cores at 2GHz, complemented by the Mali-G610MC2 GPU.
With modern 5G dual-SIM capabilities, Wi-Fi 6 support, and Bluetooth 5.4, the Dimensity 7100 is quite capable. Its integrated ISP can handle cameras up to 200MP, although it limits video recording to 2K at 30fps, which may disappoint some users.
Our test unit featured 8GB of RAM and came with either 128GB or 256GB of non-expandable UFS 2.2 storage, with our review focusing on the higher capacity version. In terms of benchmark performance, while the Infinix Note Edge may not lead in raw speed, it competes favorably within its price range. Comparatively, it performs similarly to Samsung's Galaxy A26, particularly in CPU tasks, and only slightly trails in GPU performance. AnTuTu benchmarking results, albeit from v10 due to technical issues with v11, indicate that the Note Edge holds a competitive edge in the budget segment.
In everyday use, the Note Edge may occasionally feel sluggish, yet it maintains smooth operation without stuttering during typical tasks, including gaming. While it may not deliver an extraordinary gaming experience, it certainly meets adequate standards for the majority of users.

While the MediaTek Dimensity 7100 isn’t the most powerful chip on the market, one of its advantages is efficient thermal management.
