Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch Black and White: New 2026 Models Reviewed (2026)

Get ready for a thrilling journey into the world of horology! Omega, the renowned watchmaker, has unveiled a captivating addition to its iconic Speedmaster Moonwatch collection. Introducing the Black and White Dials, a pair of timepieces that will leave you in awe.

The Speedmaster Moonwatch Professional, a modern legend, needs no introduction. It's a testament to Omega's craftsmanship and a symbol of human achievement. But here's where it gets intriguing: there's more than meets the eye with these Moonwatches.

Omega offers an extensive range of over 20 variations, each with its own unique charm. From the classic steel version to bi-material designs and gold alloys, the choices are endless. And now, in 2026, Omega continues its tradition by releasing two stunning new editions - the Black and White Dials.

The Black and White Dials are a rare sight, featuring a reverse panda design. In watchmaking terms, a panda dial is a chronograph with a white dial and black sub-counters, while a reverse panda is its elegant counterpart - a chronograph with a black dial and white sub-counters. The Speedmaster Moonwatch has had its fair share of panda dials, but reverse pandas are a true rarity.

One notable example is the Speedy Tuesday edition launched by Fratello in 2017. Now, the collection expands with these two new editions, available in stainless steel or the exquisite Moonshine Gold. And if you thought you'd seen it all, think again! Omega teased the gold version at the 2025 Met Gala, worn by the talented actor Colman Domingo.

These new Black and White editions are true to the classic Speedmaster Moonwatch spirit. Based on the 'sapphire sandwich' version, they offer enhanced protection with sapphire crystals on both sides. The 42mm asymmetrical case, extended crown and pusher protection, and lyre-shaped lugs are all hallmarks of the Moonwatch.

The case is available in stainless steel or 18k Moonshine gold, Omega's proprietary yellow gold alloy. At 13.18mm thick and with a lug-to-lug distance of 47.5mm, these timepieces are a perfect blend of size and comfort. The double-step caseback, screwed and equipped with a sapphire crystal, showcases the calibre 3861 movement. Water resistance is rated at an impressive 50m.

The external tachymeter scale, a signature feature of the Speedmaster, surrounds the sapphire crystal. The bezel's frame, in steel or Moonshine gold, houses a polished black ceramic insert, a departure from the traditional aluminium insert. The fade-resistant white enamel tachymeter scale retains the historical layout, adding a touch of elegance.

The bracelet, a brushed and polished retro-style 'Nixon' design, measures 20mm at the lugs and 15mm at the clasp. This flexible and stylish bracelet features a striped folding clasp with a polished Omega logo, security pushers, and a comfort extension for added convenience.

But the true stars of these timepieces are the dials. The new black and white dials offer a refined take on the classic step layout. The polished black base, with a varnished and lacquered finish, creates a glossy effect. The sub-counters, also varnished and lacquered in white, are a perfect contrast. What sets these dials apart is the use of applied hour markers and a polished metal logo, paired with polished metal hands.

On the steel version, these elements are rhodium-plated, with white Super-LumiNova inserts for enhanced visibility. The Moonshine gold edition takes luxury to the next level, with solid gold hour markers, hands, and sub-dial hands. The central seconds hand is rendered in PVD Moonshine Gold, adding a touch of sophistication. White SLN is also featured on all elements, ensuring optimal legibility.

Under the hood, the Speedmaster Moonwatch Black and White editions are powered by the in-house calibre 3861. An evolution of the classic hand-wound calibres 1861 and 861, this movement boasts Omega's co-axial escapement and a silicon hairspring. Certified as a Master Chronometer, it is resistant to powerful magnetic fields (up to 15,000 gauss). Beating at a frequency of 3Hz, it offers approximately 50 hours of power reserve when fully wound.

These stunning timepieces are now part of Omega's permanent collection. The stainless steel edition is priced at EUR 10,200 (incl. taxes) or CHF 8,100 (excl. taxes), while the Moonshine gold edition retails at EUR 48,600 (incl. taxes) or CHF 38,400 (excl. taxes).
