In a move that could reshape its global trade landscape, India is set to embark on formal negotiations for a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) starting today. Preliminary data reveals growth in merchandise trade compared to last year, while services exports have surged significantly. “India continues to shine brightly in a challenging global environment,” Goyal remarked. He highlighted the seafood sector as a prime example of adaptability: after facing hurdles in the US market, Indian exporters pivoted to Europe, leveraging the EU’s approval of 102 Indian establishments following rigorous quality checks. “Our seafood exports have soared in the past three months,” Goyal noted, underscoring the resilience of Indian businesses.
The recent Board of Trade meeting was hailed as “highly productive,” with industry leaders expressing optimism and enthusiasm for export-promotion schemes. Goyal commended exporters for their tenacity, stating, “They have the ability to face challenges head-on.”
