Bryce Fullwood's Rare Supercars Transition: Full-Time to Enduro-Only? (2026)

A rare opportunity is on the horizon for Bryce Fullwood, and it's a scenario that doesn't often play out in the world of Supercars. The potential for an intra-team transition is a unique and intriguing prospect.

While it's often talked about as a smooth pathway for drivers to transition from full-time racing to an endurance-only role within the same team, the reality is quite different. Just look at the cases of Will Davison, Mark Winterbottom, and Garth Tander, whose plans took unexpected turns.

Of the six full-time drivers who have stepped away from the grid in 2025, only Bryce Fullwood remains to announce his future plans. And here's where it gets interesting: V8 Sleuth has learned that Fullwood is most likely to stay with Brad Jones Racing, potentially as André Heimgartner's new co-driver.

Now, this is a rare occurrence. Excluding team/license owners like Jamie Whincup, there have been just three instances in the past decade where a driver has directly transitioned from full-time racing to a co-driver role at the same team. David Wall did it with Garry Rogers Motorsport, and Craig Lowndes is another high-profile example, sticking with Triple Eight after retiring from full-time duties.

Will Davison's situation is a bit more complex, but it highlights the point. Davison, a two-time Great Race winner, found himself in a unique position when his team, 23Red Racing, closed during the COVID-19 shutdown. This led to him becoming Cam Waters' co-driver in 2020.

Fullwood, who will be racing an Aston Martin in next week's Bathurst 12 Hour, has spent the last six seasons as a regular on the main game grid since winning the 2019 Super2 title. Losing his ride in the #14 entry to Cameron Hill has left Fullwood's market in the Supercars enduro stakes surprisingly quiet, but a partnership with Heimgartner could be a dynamic move.

As for the rest of the 2026 co-drives, most teams have their rosters sorted. Among the unannounced, Jack Perkins is favored for the Triple Eight/SCT vacancy, Zak Best is expected to continue with Blanchard Racing Team, and Reuben Goodall is the top contender for the Castrol #55.

Matt Stone Racing is likely to focus on single-driver events that don't clash with Super2, leaving only two spots open at Yatala. It seems they're also close to finalizing their roster.

So, what do you think about these rare transitions? Is it a sign of loyalty or a strategic move? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!
